DODGY DANCING

It’s Madchester, innit?

Every so often, a tribute band comes along with breathtaking skill, enthusiasm and musicality. Until that happens, you’ll just have to put up with The Baggys.

28th Nov – victoria inn w-o-T

Somehow, after the last performance at this lovely pub, which involved shameless bribery, swearing, and band members forgetting they had to go on stage, we have been asked back. A quick trip down the pawn shop to get instruments back and a meeting with our old friends at the noise abatement department and we’re all sorted.

Not only that, we’ve been learning new things, like which way up to hold the instruments, why we shouldn’t plug the bass player into the mains (no matter how convincing his arguments are) and why young people may take exception to having their melons twisted. It’s all good man…

Who let us out?

The Baggys celebrate the baggy, brilliant, gloriously untidy sounds of late-80s and early-90s Madchester.

Expect the tunes you remember, the dancing you’d rather forget, and a healthy disregard for our own importance.

Manchester classics. Questionable dancing. Genuine live music.

BAGGY No. 1

Trigger

Bass Guitar / Unsubtle Wailing

Often praised for his can’t do attitude, Trigger studied bass guitar at St. Winnifreds and was often forced to wear a pinafore in order to sing in the choir.

BAGGY No. 2

Mungo

Lead Singer / Guitar / Frontman

The only one in the band who doesn’t look at his shoes, Mungo’s startling approach to guitar and his x-rated vocals single him out as most likely to be arrested during a gig.

BAGGY No. 3

TinTin

Drums / Backing Vocals

Plays the drums because in the early days, the band kept losing drummers. He figured sitting down all gig would be a nice rest. Says it’s nice to play with Baggys cos it makes a change not being the talentless one.

BAGGY No. 4

our kid

Guitar / Keyboard

Through his musical journey, Our Kid has owned and played many different guitars and keyboards. He says he still hasn’t found ones that work properly. Lives by the adage “It’s a poor musician who doesn’t blame his tools”.
